Boring Stock Alerts ("App," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you install and use the Boring Stock Alerts Shopify app. By installing or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.
If you do not agree, please do not install or use the App.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only the minimum data necessary to provide low-stock notifications and the in-app dashboard.
a. Information You Provide
- Notification Email Address: The email you specify to receive low-stock alerts.
- Stock Thresholds: The inventory levels you set to trigger notifications (e.g., "notify when 5 or fewer items remain").
b. Information from Shopify (via API)
When you install the App, you grant permission for us to access:
- Product Data (read-only): Product titles, SKUs, variants, and current inventory quantities.
- Store Information: Store name, domain, and Shopify plan (for support and billing context).
We do NOT access or collect:
- Customer data (names, emails, addresses, orders)
- Payment information
- Shipping or fulfillment details
- Any personally identifiable information beyond the notification email you provide
2. How We Use Your Information
We use collected data only to:
- Monitor inventory levels in real time.
- Send email alerts when stock reaches or falls below your threshold.
- Display a dashboard of low-stock products inside your Shopify admin.
- Troubleshoot support requests (e.g., "Why didn't I get an alert?").
- Improve app performance and reliability (anonymized usage analytics).
3. Data Storage and Security
- Storage Location: Data is stored on secure servers in the United States (AWS US-East-1 region).
- Encryption:
- Data in transit: TLS 1.2+
- Data at rest: AES-256 encryption
- Access: Only authorized personnel with multi-factor authentication can access systems.
- Retention:
- Your data is retained only while the App is installed.
- Upon uninstallation, all store-specific data (email, thresholds, product inventory snapshots) is permanently deleted within 48 hours.
- We do not keep backups of your data after deletion.

5. Email Notifications
- Alerts are sent only to the email address you configure.
- Emails contain:
- Product name and SKU
- Current stock level
- Link to edit the product in Shopify (optional)
- We never add marketing content, promotions, or third-party ads to alert emails.
6. No Selling or Sharing of Data
We do not:
- Sell your data.
- Share your data with advertisers.
- Use your data for marketing.
- Disclose your data except as described in this Policy or required by law.
7. Your Data Rights (GDPR, CCPA, etc.)
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of your data (email + thresholds).
- Delete: Uninstall the App — all data is automatically deleted.
- Correct: Update your email or thresholds in the App settings.
- Object/Restrict: Not applicable (we only process data needed for the service).

8. International Data Transfers
If you are located outside the United States, your data will be transferred to and processed in the US. We rely on Shopify's Data Processing Addendum and Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for compliance with GDPR.

The App is not intended for use by children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be:
- Posted in the App and on our website.
- Notified via email or in-app message (for material changes).
- Effective 7 days after posting.
Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated Policy.
